KNVB Cup: Hoofdklasse opposition for Ajax in second round
12 July: A new season means a new edition of the KNVB
Cup, in which Ajax went 'all the way' in
2006 and
2007. The draw for the first and second rounds of the
competition took place at the KNVB headquarters in the town of
Zeist. It was conducted by FC Zwolle player Jordy Zuidam, who
paired Ajax with the winners of the first round clash
between Hoofdklasse amateur outfits Gemert and
Kozakken Boys. The amateurs are to play at home.
Gemert vs Kozakken Boys will be played on Saturday 25
August, at 18:00 CET. Ajax will travel to the winners of the
encounter on Tuesday 25, Wednesday 26 or Thursday 27 September.
Venue, date and kick-off time for the second round match will
be announced once it is clear whom Ajax will face. Ajax
USA will then announce the match details on the homepage and
update this news report accordingly.
Ajax's first team was the only Ajax team in the bowl this
season. Neither Young Ajax nor the Ajax Saturday-1
Hoofdklasse amateurs qualified for the cup competition

fixture of the second round seems to be Feyenoord vs FC

UPDATE 25 August 2007: Kozakken Boys won their
first round encounter at fellow Hoofdklasse side
Gemert by the score of 1-4 today. They now face Ajax, at their
home ground in the town of Werkendam, on 25, 26 or 27
September.
UPDATE 27 August 2007: The KNVB have determined
the date for Kozakken Boys vs Ajax. The match will be played at
De Zwaaier football ground in Werkendam on Wednesday 26
September 2007, kick-off time 20:00 CET.
